He taught school until 26 years of age, and then studied law, but before finishing law course was converted and called to the ministry at the age of 28 – and has been a constant and devout minister of the gospel for nearly thirty years.

He was a member of the West Texas conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, up to the time he was taken ill one year ago.

He was a Mason for twenty years having taken the Royal Arch degree he was also a member of the Woodmen of the World for twelve years.

During his ministry he did a great deal of missionary work and his labors in this field often took him to remote section of Texas and the summers were never too hot nor the winters too cold for him to carry the gospel to isolated stations in far western Texas.

Gardner of Nocona, Texas, Miss Clyde Holland of Temple, Texas, and R. H. Holland of Temple, Texas, all of whom survive him together with his widow Mrs. Sue Holland.

The family moved to this city about nine months ago to be near his daughter, Mrs. Walter McGregor, and in the home that the change in climate would benefit his health; he improved for a while but during the past two months grew worse until death claimed him yesterday at 4:25 o’clock pm.
