December 2, 1919 - July 13, 2014
"Robert Petrek, 94, of Barclay, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, in a Temple nursing home. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cyclone. Rev. James Robertson and Deacon Bill Smetana officiated. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cyclone.
Mr. Petrek was born December 2, 1919, in Oenaville to William and Margaret Raabe Petrek. He worked on the family farm and in his grandparent's grocery store in the Ocker community prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy on June 30, 1953, and owned and operated a mechanic shop at Barclay until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cyclone. His hobbies included growing Irises and building Martin Birdhouses. He is survived by his wife.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to St. Joseph's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
