REBA SUE SCOTT

Reba Sue Scott, 87, of Pilot Point slipped away to her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2007, in Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Reba was born December 8, 1919, near Hastings, Okla., to John and Mary (Hicks) Scott. She moved to Texas as a small child and lived near Bolivar and Flower Mound. Reba graduated from Lewisville High School in 1938 and attended North Texas State College, now the University of North Texas, for 3 years. She went to work in Dallas, and later enlisted in the Navy in September 1943. She served in World War II and then made a career in the Navy, serving in numerous places in the United States and in London, England (1953-54). Basic training was in the Bronx, New York, and storekeeping in Bloomington, Ind. advancing to Senior Chief Storekeeper. She served in Boston, Pensacola, Seattle and Hawaii. She was a recruiter in Columbia, SC. She was stationed in San Diego, Calif., when she retired in January 1967, returning to Pilot Point to help care for her parents. Later she returned to college and finished her degree. She later retired as a nursing home employee.
Reba was active in many community and church activities. She served as an officer in the 19th Century Club, AARP and BPW Club. She volunteered at the Shepherd Storehouse. She was a life member of New Life Worship Center in Aubrey.
Ms Scott is survived by three sisters, Jessie Mae McGee of Duncan, OK., Essie F. Scott of Gainesville, and Alta L. Davis of Gainesville; one brother, J. W. Scott and wife, Betty Lou of Pilot Point; 13 nieces and nephews, goddaughter Denyse McCord; and dear friend, Amelia Arellano.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Scott; and a sister, Ora Lee Scott.
Pallbearers are nephews, Charles McGee, Ray McGee, H. C. McGee, Jerry Davis, Larry Davis and Daniel Scott.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Huff Chapel in Pilot Point. Pastor Jim Brown will be officiating. Military honors will follow immediately at the Sanger Cemetery.

Slay Memorial Funeral Center of Aubrey is in charge of arrangements.
