December 2, 1928 - February 12, 2011

Margaret Davidson White, 82, of Elgin, former long time resident of Meridian, passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, in Elgin. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Meridian First Baptist Church with burial in Meridian Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lawson Funeral Home.
Margaret was born in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Willie and Myrtel Davidson. She was raised on the farm lands of Granger, Texas. After her high school graduation, she went to Austin, Texas, and attended Nixon-Clay Business College. She then met and married Granger's new Head Coach J.M. White, Jr. in 1949. After, a successful year in Granger, they moved to Waco where J.M. finished his degree at Baylor University. After graduation, they moved J.M's hometown of Midland, Texas. They had their three beautiful baby daughters and Margret never wanted to leave her magnificent Midland. They joined the "A" Street Church of Christ and got busy with J.M's oil-related business and raising a young family. When J.M's dad passed away in 1962, they decided to move to beautiful Meridian, Texas. The small town life was exciting and they got so involved in church, community and school. They opened a Western Store, then became owners of Meridian Floral and added Merie Norman Cosmetics to the mix.
Margaret loved all things with color and of beauty. They expanded the Flower Shop and Merie Norman Cosmetics to Clifton, Texas, and became members of the Clifton Church of Christ. They bought the family home and acreage, which led them to get more involved with horses and 4-H Clubs. J.M. took the job of Coach in Cranfills Gap School, while Margaret ran the retail businesses and their home. In 1981 J.M. passed away after two years of fighting lung cancer. The girls were married and had given Margaret and J.M. seven grandchildren, so, Margaret moved back to Midland and went to work for a friend in the oil Business. She married longtime friend, Marvin Brown, and they moved to Hawaii in 1985. After a few years in Hawaii, they moved back to the states and spent the rest of their years in New Caney, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. M. White Jr. on Dec. 27, 1981 and Marvin Clifford Brown on Dec. 7, 2009; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Hennessee and husband, Don, of Driftwood, DeDa Lehman and husband, Robert, of Meridian, and Cindy White, of Waco; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, James Davidson and wife, Freda, of Georgetown; sister, Nell Steiger and husband, Lloyd, of Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
