MISS DAY, 99, DIES IN EASTLAND.....Eastland (RNS)-Miss Sallie Day, 99, one of the original residents of Eastland, died about 5:40 pm. Wednesday in Eastland Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for a day. She had been ill about a month and had entered the hospital less than 24 hrs. before her death. She lived at 401 South Mulberry St. over 50 years. She was born Oct. 13, 1870, in Nashville, Tenn. In 1873, she came to Eastland with her family in a wagon train of five families. Her parents and grandfather, Ed Sweatt, settled in Eastland where Mr. Day worked as a carpenter. In the early 1900's Miss Day ran a private Kindergarten. She clerked in several stores, and at one time, she and her mother ran a boarding house. She was a member of the First Christian Church 85 yrs. and for many years taught a children's Sunday School Class. Funeral arrangements are pending at Arrington Funeral Home. Survivors include 5 nieces, Mrs. Clyde Garrett and Mrs. R. E. Sikes; both of Eastland, Mary Day Lawrence of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Charles Blandford and Mrs. Ocie Buffaloe, both of Dallas; five nephews, Neal, Milton and Voney Day, all of Eastland, and Melvin and Norman Day, both of Fort Worth.

Funeral services for Miss Sallie Day, 99, will be conducted at 10 am. Saturday from the Arrington Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Williams officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
