J. P. FONTAINE BURIED LITTLE RIVER SUNDAY

J. P. Fontaine, 78, pioneer residents of Jones Prairie, died at his home in Jones Prairie at 10:45 on Saturday night December 25th.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon December 26, at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. J. Coy Williams of the Cameron Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. Aln Reed, pastor of Jones Prairie Methodist Church, conducting the services. Interment was made in Little River Cemetery.
Mr. Fontaine died shortly after a paraletic stroke and from this ailment pneumonia developed. In early life Mr. Fontaine became a Methodist and lived a long life of devotion to the cause of Methodism in his community. He was a Steward and a teacher in the church.
Mr. Fontaine was born in St. Mary's Parish in Louisiana on Oct. 11, 1859. With his parents he came to Texas and settled in Smith county. The family moved to Jones Prairie a few years later and there Mr. Fontaine lived all the remaining days of his life.
He was married to Miss Ira Melson in 1887. Before his death he had planned with his wife to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
The pioneer is survived by his widow who has been ill for about two years; three sons, James Fontaine of Jones Prairie; Vernon Fontaine of Austin and Charles Fontaine of Magnolia.
Dr. W. J. Fontaine, well known physician and pioneer, is a nephew of deceased. The Fontaine family members were among the early settlers in the Jones Prairie Community.
