SPEARMAN - Elizabeth Jane Smith Holton, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006.
Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hansford County Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Spearman First United Methodist Church with John Scott and the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. Holton was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Wheeler to Dr. Alfred Harvey and Nora Smith. She was raised in Lamesa, attended Trinity College and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1942.

She married Richard B. Holton on Oct. 23, 1945, in Lubbock.

She moved to Spearman, where she loved to play bridge and cook for her family. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Spearman, and also attended First United Methodist Church in Spearman. She was also active in the Texas Groundwater Association, along with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Holton, in 1998; a great-grandson, Hayden Steinberger, in 2002; and two brothers, Frank and James Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Richard Holton and wife Cindy and Stephen Wayne Holton and wife Mollie, all of Spearman; three grandchildren, Shannon Steinberger and husband Dane of Rockwall, Jason Holton and wife Macy of Spearman and Leslie Green and husband John of Round Rock; and two great-grandchildren Conner Holton and Harrison Steinberger.

The family suggests memorials be to the Spearman Hospice, 707 S. Roland, Spearman, TX 79070 or to a favorite charity.
