James S. Bussard, age 85, well known citizen of Lipscomb County and the Northeast Panhandle, died Monday night, at 7:30 o'clock at the Canadian Hospital, following a week's illness.

Mr. Bussard was a native of Switzerland. He came to this country with his parents when 4 years of age. The family settled at Louisville, Kentucky. Later they moved to Indiana. In 1875, Mr. Bussard came west and took up land in Johnson County, Kansas. He moved to Lipscomb County, Texas in 1909, where he has since made his home.

Until the last 15 years, Mr. Bussard has been actively engaged in farming. His age prohibited him from being so active since.

Mrs. Bussard died in 1925. Five children of a family of thirteen are dead. Those surviving are: Martin Bussard of Lipscomb; H.R. Bussard, Booker; G.D. Bussard, Littleton, Colorado; O.E. Bussard, Perryton; Jesse Bussard, Glazier; Mrs. Claud Lenard, Chrome, Colorado; L.G. Bussard, Canadian and D.H. Bussard, Los Angeles, California.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock from the church at Lipscomb. Burial will be made in the Lipscomb Cemetery.
