Charlotte “Granny” Keffer Bussard, 100, of Glazier, passed away Monday July 15, 2019 in Canadian.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Canadian with Rev. Matthew McCurley, pastor, and Ben Mathers, officiating. Burial will be in Lipscomb Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Mrs. Bussard was born November 25, 1918 in Miami to James and Dove Keffer. She attended schools in Lipscomb and graduated from Shattuck High School. After graduating from high school, she went on to nursing school and graduated from Baylor Nursing School in Dallas, Texas. On July 17, 1938 she married Jesse J. Bussard in Pampa; he passed away on March 15, 1986. Jesse worked for Cities Services Gas Company, which required them to move to different cities including Skellytown, Pampa, Higgins, and they finally made their home in Glazier in the 60’s. She worked and filled in at different hospitals in Higgins, Shattuck, Canadian, and in a doctor’s office in Pampa.
Charlotte celebrated her 100th birthday this past year and has lived at Mesa View Assisted Living for the past 6 years where she has made wonderful friends with the residents and the staff. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and was duplicate bridge life master, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and sudoku. Charlotte was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, and she was a longtime member of the Eastern Star. Her family was very important to her and she loved to travel and visit them. She was very proud of them all. She will be missed dearly by her family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Peggy Keffer Johnson and Pat Keffer Moore; 3 brothers, James Keffer, Douglas Keffer, and John Keffer.
Survivors include 2 daughters; Mary Robinson of Hereford and Kay Cameron and husband Jim of Canadian; 4 grandchildren, Scott Robinson and wife Amy of Rogers, Arkansas, Clay Cameron and fiancé Sky of Canadian, Taylor Cameron and wife Jamie of Carnegie, Oklahoma, and Jill Robinson of New Orleans, Louisiana; 4 great-grandchildren, Jett Cameron of Canadian, Nicholas Robinson and Abagail Robinson both of Rogers Arkansas, and Katy Cameron of Carnegie, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Canadian, 706 East Main Street, Canadian, Texas 79014; or Mesa View Assisted Living, 1 Teas, Canadian, Texas 79014.
