OBITUARY
Mr. John Womack, Sr., a former citizen of Cameron died December 15th, at his home in Whitsett, sixty miles for San Antonio. The body was brought to Cameron for interment. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. C. Reese, by Rev. H. C. Willis, pastor of the Methodist church. A large number of friends being present, among whom were his two daughters from Oklahoma, Mrs. Emma Burke of Norman and Mrs. Abbie Muk of Shawnee and their children. All of his children and grandchildren were present except the youngest son and his daughter, who live in Oklahoma.
Mr. Womack had been in bad health for several years and his oldest son, Mr. J. D. Womack, Jr., had been with him for the last three weeks, but his death was not expected so soon.
Deceased was the son of Dr. and Mrs. John C. Womack of this city. His father died several years ago, but his mother is still living and was at the funeral. He was born in Arkansas, Dec. 14, 1862 and his parents moved to Texas when he was only two years old.
After leaving Cameron he was a detective for several years in San Antonio, from there he moved to Galveston where he was deputy U. S. Marshall for two years, his health failing he moved on a ranch at Whitsett where he died.
Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery. This community sympathizes deeply with the family in their sorrow.
