*Obituary for Dorothy
SPEARMAN — Dorothy Faye Lusby, 79, of Spearman died Friday, April 13, 2012, in Spearman.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Medley officiating. Burial will follow in Hansford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla.

Dorothy was born April 20, 1932, in Berlin, Okla., to Edmond and Anie Hickman Campbell. She was the youngest of seven children, all of whom predeceased Dorothy. She was a tomboy who loved basketball, volleyball, playing with her big sisters and helping her daddy on the farm. She attended school in Berlin and Merritt, where she met Albert Edward "Junior" Lusby on the school bus. He was taken with her twinkling brown eyes, and they were married Jan. 24, 1949, in Pampa.

They lived in Elk City, Okla., and Fort Morgan, Colo., before settling in Spearman in 1956. In 1957 they started Junior Lusby "Cats," a dirt-contracting business that primarily served the agriculture and oil industries. Dorothy was by Junior's side, keeping the books, occasionally driving a truck and helping him build the business while serving as office manager. She always cheered her children and grandchildren from the sidelines or audience of their many sports, band, choir and educational activities. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading and was named Outstanding Volunteer at Hansford Manor in 1993 and 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spearman.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Junior, in 1982; and a grandson, Robert,
in 1991.

Survivors include three sons, Monte and wife Catherine of Canadian, Ronnie and wife Donita of Spearman and Lonnie and wife Katina of Fayetteville, Ark.; a daughter, Becky Byers and husband Alvin of Spearman; three grandsons, James Lusby, wife Stacia and children Luke, Lincoln and Landon of Amarillo, Albert Lusby, wife Lesley and daughter Lilly of Amarillo, and Michael Lusby, wife Jess Anne and children Braylen, Layne and Kolt of Spearman; four granddaughters, Haley Byers of Spearman, Allison Vyoral and son Vance of Perryton, Jill and husband Ben Butler and children Bo, Brenna and Brock, of Farnsworth and Mandi Lusby and daughter Taylor Varnon of Spearman; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 72701.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
