Maxwell McKaye
DARROUZETT - Maxwell "Mac'' McKaye, 73, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, August 5, 1997 in Darrouzett Cemetery with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.
Mr. McKaye was born in Silver City, N.M. He was raised in San Antonio and graduated from high school there. He enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II aboard the USS Guadalcanal.
He married Melba Trees in 1945 at Norfolk, Va. They lived in various places until moving to Galveston, where Mr. McKaye joined the Army Corps of Engineers.
They later moved to El Paso, where he attended school and received his geology degree. He was employed in the oil and gas industry and had lived in numerous places across the state of Texas.
In the early 1970s, they moved to Darrouzett.
Mr. McKaye was a member of St. John's Congregational Church and the Follett Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Maxwell Stephen McKaye of Austin; a daughter, Suzan Allen of Bedminster, N.J.; two grand daughters; and a great grand daughter.
