SPEARMAN — Wilma Jo McLaughlin, 88, of Spearman died Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Spearman Church of Christ with Leonard Harper officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Wilma, better known as Jo or JoJo to her grandchildren, was born April 7, 1924, in Reed, Okla., to Claude Jackson and Bessie Thompson Jackson. She married Maurice D. "Mac" McLaughlin on May 22, 1948, in Spearman Church of Christ.
Mac and Jo farmed and ranched in Spearman. She was a member of Spearman Church of Christ and several other community organizations. She served on the Hansford County Library Board starting in 1986 and was the driving force behind the "Thrift Shop." The Thrift Shop took in donated items and sold them to benefit the public library. She was always willing to help those in need. Service was one of her special gifts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac McLaughlin; two sisters, Rose Kunselman and Janelle Henson; and a brother, W.C. Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Danny McLaughlin and wife Delinda of Spearman; three grandchildren, Kyle McLaughlin and wife Audra of Sunray, Brian McLaughlin and wife Leslie and Dana Hendrick and husband Justin, all of Spearman; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Spearman Church of Christ, P.O. Box 475, Spearman, TX 79081; or Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.
