SPEARMAN - Louis Miesner, 83, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Union Church with the Rev. Neely Landrum and the Rev. Don Baltazor officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mr. Miesner was born May 26, 1925, in Pueblo, Colo., to Louis and Katy Miesner. He had lived in Spearman since 1961, moving from Sayre, Okla. He married Mary Madden on Feb. 2, 1962, in Stratford.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict. He was a service manager for Hansford Implement for 30 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Khiva Temple of the Shrine. He was a Gideon and a former board member of Union Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Terry Ann Porter; two granddaughters, Christy Porter and Becky Porter; and three sisters, Anna Mae Hawkins, Gertie Downing and Katherine Nix.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Miesner; two daughters, Roxie Bartholomew and husband Brice of Graham and Teresa Gomoke and husband Corbet of Frisco; four sons, Kenneth Miesner and wife Susan of Suisun, Calif., Jed Miesner and wife Lisa of Amarillo, Gary Miesner of Alamogordo, N.M., and Greg Miesner and wife Billie Jo of Spearman; a sister, Vera Brimer of Sayre, Okla.; a former son-in-law, Bill Porter and wife Vicky of Spearman; seven granddaughters, Mandy Vargus and husband Gus and Katie and Haylee Miesner, all of Spearman, Lacey Salgado and husband Stephen and Kaylee Miesner, all of Amarillo, Lisa Flaxmayer and husband Robert of Vacaville, Calif., and Monique Rickard of Washington state; three grandsons, Marty Miesner of Amarillo and Aaron and Ethan Gomoke, both of Frisco; and Louie Miesner and wife Tuyet of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.
