October 9, 1906 - July 27,2007

Abilene, Texas - Mrs. Jill Robbins, a resident of Abilene for many years, died on Friday, July 27, 2007.

She was born in Bowie, Texas on October 9, 1906 to Zara and Mary Ann (Staley) Chisholm, growing up in a large family. As an adult she worked for the Bell Telephone Company, moving to Abilene in 1960 to be near her sisters after the death of her husband, Claude Robbins. She was employed by the Abilene State School until her retirement in 1970. At the time of her death she was a resident of Sears Methodist Center.

Jill was a warm, loving, caring person filled with fun and laughter. She loved her family greatly, loved her friends, enjoyed her home, reading, maintained a prodigious correspondence over the years with family members and friends. She was a gifted writer, keeping journals for over 50 years. Jill was the family historian, keeping up with each and everyone. She was a faithful Christian, a member of the North Park Church of Christ. Living and sharing her faith daily, she was a beautiful inspiration and Christian example for all. Although she never had children of her own, she had dozens of "family" children to love through the years and was adored by all of her nieces, nephews and cousins. Jill leaves a legacy of love to her family, friends and all who were privileged to know "Aunt Jill."

She is survived by her four nieces: Carolyn Freeman and husband, Glen, of Abilene; Jack Elizabeth Chisholm of Abilene; Bette Frost of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Jacque Holland and husband, Scotty, of Houston, Texas, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Robbins will be laid to rest beside her parents, grandparents and many other relatives in the historical Staley Cemetery, a beautiful, old cemetery that was deeded to Brown County in 1904 by her grandfather, George W. Staley.

There will be a visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory in Abilene.

Graveside services will be held in the Staley Cemetery, Brownwood, Texas, at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, with Wayne Goforth officiating.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Holland, David Holland, Terry Holland, Jack Chisholm, George Chisholm, Glen Freeman and Glen Freeman, Jr.

We wish to give heartfelt thanks to the wonderful "family" caregivers of Sears Methodist Center, who cared for her with such love.
