Don GENSMAN, 71, of Darrouzett, died October 23, 1998.
Funeral services were held Sunday. October 25, at the Darrouzett School auditorium with Rev. Billy Wilson, Rev. Don Travis and Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial was in Darrouzett Cemetery under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.
He was born July 12, 1927 in Beaver County, Oklahoma, and attended the North Fork Country School. After graduating from Darrouzett High School in 1945, he went to work on the family farm.
He married Irene BECHTHOLD on February 23, 1946 in Lipscomb County, and they made their home in Beaver County. They moved to Ottawa, KS for a while, then returned to Lipscomb County, where they lived until 1954. After living in northwest Oklahoma and north Texas. They moved to Darrouzett in 1961.
He was a farmer-rancher and operated his own custom harvesting operation. He and his wife also operated Darrouzett Corner Drug for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Darrouzett.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Blake MEIER; a brother, Loren, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife. Irene. of the home; one son Dennis Kay GENSMAN of Altus, Oklahoma; five daughters, Donita DAVIS of Panhandle, Judy HUDSON of Darrouzett, Joyce BAKER of Follett, Jean LEWIS of Darrouzett and Jackie BOWLING of Follett; one sister, Laurene STEVENSON of Owasso, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to one's favorite charity.
