PERRYTON — Elbert Lavern Smith, 81, of Perryton died Friday, June 28, 2013.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery, Farm-to-Market 1455 located between Follett and Darrouzett south of St. John Congregational Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Elbert was born May 4, 1932, in Perryton. He married Louella Redelsperger on Dec. 15, 1949, in Wheeler. Elbert was a carpenter who built cabins for people in Angel Fire, N.M. He liked to ride motorcycles and work with his hands. He was a member of Key Heights Baptist Church of Perryton.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Montgomery, in 2013, and a grandson, Cole Elkins, in 2011.
Survivors include his wife, Louella Smith of Perryton; a daughter, Charlotte Burress of Perryton; a son, Bert Smith of Logan, Okla.; a sister, Anna Lee Wiebe of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Calvin Smith and wife Cil of Bay Field, Colo.; five grand children; 12 great-grand children; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be to Ochiltree Hospice volunteers, 3101 Garrett Drive, Perryton, TX 79070; or a favorite charity.
