Truman Wesley Smith, 85, of Vernon, TX passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was born in Dumont, TX on August 21, 1932, to the late Lowell and Jewel (Waltz) Smith. Truman married Nadaiah Seal on July 21, 1954 and had two children.

Other than serving in the Army from 1953-1955, Truman lived in the Dumont community for most of his life. He was a cotton and wheat farmer and served on the county ASCS Board. Truman also enjoyed calf roping. He was actively involved in the King County Lions Club and served on the Guthrie, TX School Board.

After living on the farm for years, Truman and Nada made the move to town in 2003 when they moved to Vernon, TX.

Truman was preceded in death by his parents; Lowell and Jewell Smith, and two brothers; Wayde and Mody Smith. He is survived by his wife; Nadaiah, children; Wyatt and Melissa Smith, of Duncan, OK; and Mark and Lana Haynes, of Vernon, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Zapata Funeral Home in Paducah, TX from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25th. A Graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Dumont cemetery.
