SPEARMAN - Lois Shieldknight, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Spearman Church of Christ with Leonard Harper, minister of San Jacinto Church of Christ of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla.
Lois Marie was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Enid, Okla., to Clara Koechel and George Buzzard. The Buzzard family moved soon after her birth to Hansford County. The young Lois Buzzard attended Spearman schools, graduating from Spearman High School. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Lee Shieldknight on July 27, 1947, in Perryton. Jimmy and Lois reared their family, farmed, ranched and had business interests in Hansford County. Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Spearman Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara Buzzard; a brother, Lloyd Buzzard and her husband, Jimmy Shieldknight, who passed away Sept. 4, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Shieldknight and Leann Gillaspie and husband Dick; two sons, Charles Shieldknight and wife Sonya and Fred Shieldknight and wife Brenda, all of Spearman; a sister, Georgia Buzzard Holt and husband Pat of Gruver; a brother, Frank Buzzard and wife Judy of Perryton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Buzzard of Spearman; grandchildren, Carly and Clay Simmons, Haley and Joel Sheilds, Ashly and Caleb Patterson, Kelly and Quentin Harper, Macy and Jason Holton, Quentin and Kristin Shieldknight, Laura Gillaspie, Clara Shieldknight, Mindee and Trampus Woodward, Caleb Gillaspie, Collin Gillaspie, Jeff, Erica and Lori Millican; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lilly and Chaz Patterson, Dawson and Shelby Riethmayer, Jack and Emmie Simmons, Brantly and Reece Shields, Connor Holton, Laney and Q. Harper, Kinslee Millican, Rylee Klinke with two more great-grandchildren on the way; and a special caregiver, Janna Brock.
The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice or Hansford EMS, 707 Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.
