Uncle Jesse Bryant- Died at his home in the town of Lockney, Tex, at 12 o'clock on the night of Aug. 15, 1904, at the age of 82 years 11 months and 5 days.
Uncle Jesse, or "papa" as many called him, was one of the very few who had lived in Texas under three distinct forms of government; first under Old Mexico, secondly under Texas as a Republic and lastly in Texas as a part of the United States.
He was the son of Capt. Bryant, after whom the town of Bryant Station was named.
