Thelma was born on July 25, 1921 in Union County, NM. To Alfred Henry and Mahala Frances Newman. At the sweet age of 16 on December 23, 1937 she married Ira Lee Tindell in New Mexico. In 1954 they moved to Spearman, TX. They were married 63 years when Ira passed away in January 2001.

Many may remember Thelma as being feisty as she worked as a waitress in the local cafes for over 50 years, retiring at the age of 84. Even in retirement, she went to the cafe to help roll silverware and visit with the customers. She enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and salt and pepper shakers. Always being delighted when some of her family would bring in new and unique shaker sets from their travels. She loved the color pink even to the extent of her eye glasses had a rose pink tint. Music was another passion of Thelma’s. She sang and played guitar with family and friends many a Saturday night in their home. Most recently the family had gathered in July to celebrate her 96th birthday which she truly enjoyed the reunion in Spearman before her health began to fail just a few months later.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ira, her parents and all of her siblings. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Edith Newsom, and Gloria Goodson, grandson David Goodson, granddaughter, Waynetta Riggs and great-grandsons, Ricky Goodson and Doff Slade Fisher.

She is survived by four sons, Lawrence Tindell of Willard, NM.; Mason Tindell of Spearman, Raymond Tindell and wife Robyn of Amarillo and Rusty Tindell and wife Judy of Spearman. Also 17 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, special friends Mary Garcia of Willard, NM. And Judy House of Denton, TX.
