*Obituary for George
George Nelson Turnbull, 101, of Spearman, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1:00p.m. at the Lutheran Church in Spearman. Officiating will be Rev. Beverly Cook, assisted by Rev. Cecil Biggers. Burial will follow at Hansford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Nelson was born on December 12, 1915, in Medicine Lodge Kansas to George and Ermine Lucile Osborn Turnbull. He married Alice Hittle . He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Nelson served in W.W. II. He was employed by Kansas Power and Light Company, Skelly and Getty Oil for most of his working career. He moved to Texas in 1962 and retired in 1978.

Nelson loved to fish, travel and fly, as he was a pilot.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and stepson.

Nelson is survived by grandsons, Joe Hittle and wife Elyse, of Payson, AZ.; Troy Hittle and wife Ruthie, of Wickenburg, AZ.; and Keith Hittle of Needles, CA. He is also survived by, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and close friends, Jerry and Kathy Hulme of Hobart, OK.
