Graveside Services for Bertelle Anderson, 85, of Brownfield, TX and formerly of Abernathy, TX will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Bo Shero and Bob Reynolds officiating. A Memorial service will be held at the Brownfield Church of Christ at 2:30 pm Saturday. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home in Abernathy from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday evening, Sept. 28, 2012. Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in Brownfield, TX.

She was born April 27, 1927 in Ft. Worth, TX to Bert Herndon and Estelle Hollis. Her Mother, Estelle, died during childbirth and Betelle was raised by her step-mom Ruby (Dodson) Herndon. She was raised in the Ft. Worth area. She married James Anderson on September 20, 1947 in Ft. Worth and they moved to Abernathy where she was a member of the Church of Christ, She was a registered nurse working at West Texas Hospital in Lubbock, the Lubbock State School and Hale Center Hospital. She was also a nurse at Camp Blue Haven in New Mexico. She moved to Brownfield, TX in 2002 after her health began failing.

She is survived by her 4 children, Andre Anderson and his wife Beth of Jackson, GA, Vicki Anderson of Houston, TX, Ricky Anderson of Roby, TX and Peter Anderson and his wife Liz of Brownfield, TX, 3 sisters-in-law, Heili Herndon of Plano, TX, Johnnie Herndon of Burleson, TX, Betty Griswold of Amarillo, TX and a brother-in-law, Olen Anderson of Abernathy, TX, 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, Sarah, Laura, Marc, Kym, Kethan and Fors and 14 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to Camp Blue Haven, HC 81, Box 304, Las Vegas, NM 87701. abellfuneralhome.com
