Services for Alberta Adkisson Davis, 91, of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 19, 2003 in the First United Methodist Church of Abernathy with Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. She died July 16, 2003 at Quail Ridge Care Center in Lubbock, TX.

She was born September 3, 1911 in Colinga, CA and graduated from Texas Tech University with a teaching degree in the mid 1930's. She taught school in Springlake-Earth, TX. She married Horace Davis October 5, 1938 in Abernathy, TX. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the Abernathy Senior Citizens.

She is preceded by her husband, Horace who died in 1997; a son, Kenneth Royce Davis who died in 1961 and a sister, Wilma Jones. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Jo Davis of Amarillo, TX 1 nephew, Wayne Jones 3 neices, Lana Peterson, Mary Nell Taylor and Shilrley Brown Cousins, Gid Adkisson, Jr. of Abernathy, TX and Alice Richter of Petersburg, TX. several great nieces and nephews The family suggest memorials be sent to Abernathy Senior Citizens or the Kenneth Davis Memorial Fund at the First United Methodist Church in Abernathy, TX.
