Tulia, Texas - James Robert “Jimmie” Scott, 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Colson, officiating. Burial will follow in Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Jimmie was born on August 30, 1935 in Lockney to Maury and Velma Scott. He grew up in Lockney and graduated from Lockney High School in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He married Gayle Vickers on December 8, 1959 in Floydada. They lived in Lockney where he was a member of the Lockney Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Boy Scout Master for Troop 259 in Lockney. They moved to Plainview in 1969 and then moved to Tulia in 1971. He was active in the Tulia Booster Club and served as President from 1987 to 1988. He was a Grand Master in the Tulia Masonic Lodge #733. He was active in the Tulia VFW. He was named Tulia Man of the Year in 1994. He was very active in all youth sports organizations including Tulia Little Dribblers Assoc., Tulia Youth Soccer Assoc. and Tulia Youth Baseball Assoc. He was also active in the Girls Scouts. He worked for Atmos Energy in Tulia.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Helen Butman and Frances McKennon.

He is survived by his wife: Gayle Scott of Tulia, two daughters: Susan Treider of Tomball and Robyn Scott of Amarillo and one granddaughter: Kylee Treider of Tomball and several nieces and nephews.
