*Obituary for Ruth
Services for Ruth E. Galloway, 80, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather to receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 31st.

Ruth died Friday, October 27, 2017, at her home in Abernathy.

She was born August 21, 1937 to Eugene and Helen Elam. During elementary school, and she grew up in North Little Rock. Gifted with a beautiful alto voice, she was active in various high school music programs. Singing with the senior girls trio was her top achievement.
Ruth attended the Texas State College for Women, then worked as a stenographer for the FBI. She married Joe Sentell in 1959 and settled in Snyder. From that union came Susan and Diane. She was a homemaker for many years, and was active in church and charitable groups. Later in life, Ruth returned to college. She graduated Cum Laude from Angelo State University with a BS in Elementary Education. She taught for two years before returning to an office setting. By this point, Lubbock was her home. She worked many years for Robert Madden Industries, retiring as Executive Secretary in 2001.

One of her greatest blessings in life was marrying Floyd Galloway in 1989 and making her home in Abernathy. She was active in her church as a choir member, church librarian, and Sunday School teacher. She also found tremendous joy in spending time with her family. They will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, half-brother Gene Jr., Grandson Colby James Arnold, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Galloway.

Ruth is survived by her husband Floyd, brother Robert Elam and wife Ann, 2 daughters, Susan Birkenfeld and Diane Russo and husband Michael, step-son Kevin Galloway, and step-daughter Kristi Gibson and husband Chad, along with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ruth's name to the First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311

Services for Floyd Elwayne Galloway, 80, of Abernathy, TX will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Galloway, while viewing will be from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Galloway died Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born on March 25, 1938 to Albert Floyd and Ruth Merle (Ellsworth) Galloway in Early, TX where he also spent his childhood years. He moved to Abernathy after graduating from Howard Payne College. Mr. Galloway worked his entire career as an employee of Abernathy ISD, first as a business and typing teacher before becoming the school's Business Manager, retiring in 1998. Following his retirement, he was an active volunteer for Covenant Medical Center until January 2016. Mr. Galloway was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Abernathy Lions Club.

Mr. Galloway was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Galloway on October 27, 2017, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Galloway, and sister, Jeri Bunnell.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Galloway, of Lubbock, daughter, Kristi Gibson and husband, Chad, of Haskell, TX, step-daughters Susan Birkenfeld of Lubbock and Diane Russo and husband, Michael, of Waco, TX, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a niece, Debbie Bunnell of Stephenville, TX.

The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the Abernathy First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311.
