Services for Rex Harrison, 89, of Hale Center, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends, Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Mr. Harrison died Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born April 28, 1924 in Idalou, TX to Clarence and Annie (Jackson) Harrison. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force in Europe during WWII. He married Mary Ella Daugherty on December 11, 1945 in Lubbock, TX and moved to Hale Center shortly after their marriage. For over 40 years he was a mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service until 1987. He also farmed around the Hale Center community and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ella in 2008 and a daughter, Marolyn Harrison in 2010 and 2 brothers, E. T. Harrison and Curtis Harrison. He is survived by a son, Mike Harrison and wife Ann of Abernathy, TX, 3 grandsons, Joel Harrison of Dallas, TX, Troy Harrison of Abernathy, TX and Ryan Harrison of Midland, TX and a sister Louise Stephenson of Odessa, TX.

The family suggests memorials to the Texas Wounded Warriors, 4301 Fillbrook Ln, Tyler, TX 75707.
