Services for Foy W. Hendrix, 83, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 13, 2006, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Sikes and Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Military graveside services were held in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Hendrix died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in Lubbock, TX.

He was born October 7, 1922 in Ovalo, TX. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1946. He married Viola Marie Veach, May 21, 1945 in Abernathy, TX. After being discharged from the service he returned to Abernathy and farmed from 1946 until 1948. He was employed by Bell Dairy in Lubbock for 19 years, and owned and operated the Dairy Mart in Abernathy from 1957 until 1958. He worked for Struve Implement and retired in 1986. Mr. Hendrix was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Marie Hendrix, April 7, 2005, a brother, Merrill Winston and a sister, Helen Pauline Edwards. He is survived by a daughter, Gwyn Pope and husband Robert of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Randy Hendrix and wife Tressa of Lubbock, TX, Ken Hendrix and wife Keila of Allen, TX, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Billy Max Hendrix and his wife Doris of Houston, TX, a sister-in-law, Betty Jeffery and husband Gerald of Uvalde, TX, and one brother-in-law, Willie Florence of Weatherford, TX.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to the Abernathy Cemetery Association, c/o First State Bank, P.O. Box 150, Abernathy, TX 79311.

Services for Marie Hendrix, 83, of Abernathy, TX were held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 9, 2005, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Sikes and Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Hendrix died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at her home in Abernathy.

She was born August 13, 1921 in Chico, TX, to Jesse C. and Beatrice A. (McKibben) Veach. She moved to Abernathy in 1943 and married Foy Hendrix, May 2, 1945 in Abernathy. She had lived in Draw, Lynn County and graduated from New Home High School in 1938. She attended Texas Tech University, Draughan's Business College and graduated from Hi Plains School of Nursing in 1980. She had been employed at the Texas Department of Agriculture, Abernathy Medical Clinic and Struve Implement. She was an active member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and was involved in various church activities.

She is survived by her husband, Foy Hendrix of Abernathy,TX, her daughter, Gwyn Pope and her husband Robert of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Randy Hendrix and his wife Tressa of Lubbock, TX and Ken Hendrix and his wife Keila of Allen, TX, 2 sisters, Reva Florence of Littlefield, TX and Betty Jeffery of Uvalde, TX, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family suggests tokens of sympathy be sent to the First Baptist Church, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311.
