Services for Appleree Jackson, 93, longtime resident of New Deal, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 17, 2015, in the First Baptist Church, New Deal, with Rev. W. R. Bolton, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX, officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Jackson died at her home in New Deal, Friday, December 11, 2015.

She was born September 29, 1922 in Smithville, TX to Leon and Mabel (Martin) Powell. She was raised in Smithville and married Flenoid Jackson on February 14, 1939 in Smithville. They soon moved their family to New Deal and she became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she was the "Mother" of the Church, being the oldest living member. She also served as President of the Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Flenoid Jackson in 1982 and a son Anthony June "Stonewall" Jackson in 2008. She is survived by her 6 sons, Isaac Jackson and wife Eva, Lee Jackson and wife Mary all of Lubbock, TX, Sammy Jackson and Jimmy Jackson both of New Deal, Flenoid Jackson and wife Helen of San Antonio, TX, and Edward Jackson and wife Rachael of Lake Jackson, TX, 2 daughters, Pearlie Jackson of Garland, TX and Mable Mathis and husband Harry of Hutto, TX a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
