Services for Martin Wayne Moore, 91, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 8, 2016, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Judy Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The Moore family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday, February 7th, from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm. Mr. Moore died in Lubbock, February 4, 2016.

He was born in Avery, TX, January 27, 1925 to Larnell McConville and Edna Laney (Garrett) Moore. Mr. Moore served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1946, during WWII, stationed in Europe, serving D-Day and Battle of the Bulge.He married Dorothy Estee Cross, October 2, 1946 in Clarksville, TX.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dana Moore, April 27, 2015, wife Dorothy Moore, November 12, 2015 and 2 brothers, Larnell and Darnell Moore. He is survived by 2 daughters, Diana Phillips and husband Gary of Taylor, TX, Janet Wilke of Abernathy, 4 grandchildren, Laura Franklin of St. Louis, MO, Lance Phillips of Lovelady, TX, Kathy Oaks of Lubbock, TX and Kim Wilke of Abernathy, 6 great grandchildren, Mason & Madison Phillips of Lovelady, Wesley and Katie Franklin of St. Louis, MO and Audrey and Rylan Oaks of Lubbock, and a sister, June Moore Hale and husband Steve of Edmond, OK. The family suggests memorials be sent to Abernathy Meals on Wheels at 1602 Ave. J, Abernathy, TX 79311.

Dorothy Cross Moore February 6, 1926 - November 12, 2015 Services for Dorothy Moore will be 11:00 am Monday, November 16, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Abernathy, TX. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at Abell Funeral Home in Abernathy, TX. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Moore passed away on November 12, 2015 at her home.

Dorothy Cross was born in Red River County on February 6, 1926 to Albert and Ida Cross. She was the youngest of ten children and married Martin Wayne Moore on October 2, 1946 in Clarksville, TX. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1945 and moved to the area in 1946 and was a member of the Abernathy community for sixty years. Mrs. Moore worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics until her retirement. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Abernathy, TX and was preceded in death by her siblings and a son Dana Moore.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband Martin Wayne Moore of Abernathy, two daughters Diana Phillips and husband Gary of Taylor, TX and Janet Wilke of Abernathy; four grandchildren, Laura Franklin of St. Louis, MO, Lance Phillips of Lovelady, TX, Kathy Oaks of Lubbock, and Kim Wilke of Abernathy; six great grandchildren Mason and Madison Phillips of Lovelady; Wesley and Katie Franklin of St. Louis, MO. and Audrey and Rylan Oaks of Lubbock and sister-in-law Christine Cross of Clarksville. Memorials may be sent to First Assembly of God Church P.O. Box 757, Abernathy, TX.
