Graveside services for Dorothy (Hapke) Murphy, 63 of Abernathy, TX and formerly of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 5, 2009, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

Ms. Murphy died Monday, November 30, 2009, in Lubbock, TX.

She was born July 5, 1946 in Nebraska to Alfred E. and Nellie Madge (Smith) Hapke. She graduated High School in Texico, NM and moved to Lubbock in 1975, where she lived until moving to Abernathy in 2006. She was employed at Albertson's Grocery Store for 12 years, leaving that employment in 2004.

She is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard Hapke, Frank Hapke and Robert Hapke. She is survived by 2 daughters, Cindy Runnels and her husband Jimmy of Abernathy, TX and Regina Thompson and her husband Brian of Lubbock, TX, 5 grandchildren, Alicia Junod and her husband Austin of Lubbock, TX, Sammie Runnels and Brandon Runnels both of Abernathy, TX, Audrey Thompson and Haley Thompson both of Lubbock, TX, 3 sisters, Joan Crosby of Huntington Beach, CA, Naomi Hapke of Louiseville, Kentucky and Audrey Kitrell of Texico, NM and one sister-in-law, Doris Hapke of Yukon, OK. www.abellfuneralhome.com
