Services for Vernon Lindy Neis, 88, of Plainview, TX will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at Abernathy First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Viewing will be held from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, May 21, 2020. Mr. Neis died Monday, May 18. 2020 in Lubbock, TX.

He was born August 8, 1931 to Harlow Richard and Jessie Routh (Day) Neis, on the family farm East of Abernathy. He attended school in Lakeview and graduated from Abernathy High School in 1948. He married Joyce LaVonne Brewster on Oct. 14, 1951, in Abernathy. He served in the US Army, stationed in El Paso from 1953 to 1955. He lived and farmed in Abernathy until moving to Plainview in 1997. He was a former member of Abernathy First Baptist Church and is a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview.

He is survived by four children; Michele Crowell and husband John of Granbury, TX, Blane Neis and wife Julie of Lubbock, TX, Alan Neis and wife Elena of San Antonio, TX and Rhonda Mauch and husband Ski of Colorado Springs, CO., nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Nancy Allen and husband Dorman of Abernathy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Neis; son, Randy Neis; grandson, Tyler Neis; and two sisters, Lorna Jo Sarri and Dixie Barton. Services for Joyce LaVonne Neis, 75, of Plainview, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Robertson and Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Neis died at her home, Saturday, November 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 24, 1934 in Cotton Center, TX and married Vernon Lindy Neis on October 14, 1951 in Abernathy, TX. She attended school in Cotton Center, TX and graduated from Abernathy High School in 1951. She lived in Abernathy until moving to Plainview, TX in 1997. She was a wonderful seamstress, loved to oil paint and quilt and was a natural when it came to cooking. She was a former member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church and was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview, TX.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Rieff. She is survived by her husband, Lindy Neis of Plainview, 5 children, Randy Neis of Plainview, Michele Crowell and husband John of Pampa, TX, Blane Neis and wife Julie of Abernathy, TX, Alan Neis and wife Elena of San Antonio, TX and Rhonda Mauch and husband Ski of Colorado Springs, CO, one sister, Tommye Ruth Stallings of Abernathy, TX, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services for Randy Neis, 58, of Plainview, TX, will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 16, 2013, in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, with Rev. Mike O'Donnell and Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm. Randy died Friday, December 13, 2013, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born June 10, 1955 in Lubbock, TX to Lindy and Joyce (Brewster) Neis and attended Ballinger School in Lubbock. His church life and his pastors were his world. He went to the Abernathy First Baptist Church until moving to Plainview in 1993 where he attended College Heights. He was an avid Texas Tech fan and loved coca-cola paraphernalia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, on November 28, 2009. He is survived by his father, Lindy Neis, of Plainview, TX, siblings: Michele Crowell and husband John of Pampa, TX, Blane Neis and wife Julie of Abernathy, Alan Neis and wife Elena of San Antonio, TX, and Rhonda Mauch and husband Ski of Colorado Springs, CO, 10 nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews.
