Services for Rev. Oscar R. Paez, 61, of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Monte De Los Olivos in Abernathy. Officiating will be Rev. Moises Paez, assisted by Rev. Samuel Aguilar. Wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, also at Monte De Los Olivos. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels of Lubbock. He died June 19, 2003, at University Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Mathis, Texas. He married Rosa Cardenas on June 3, 1979, in Lubbock. He was a Vietnam Veteran Airborne. He was pastor of Monte De Los Olivos in Abernathy and was an active member of Pentecostal Missionary Assembly, Inc. He worked at Struve Dept. Store for eight years. He lived in Abernathy for 27 years, before that living in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife Rosa Paez of Abernathy; two sons, Oscar Paez Jr. of San Antonio and Lazaro Paez of Abernathy; two daughters, Magdeline Salinas of San Antonio and Priscilla Paez of Abernathy; four brothers, Macedonio of Kingsville, Moises of Whiting, Ind., Larry of Alvin, and Peter of Abernathy; five sisters, Eloisa Panyagua of Abernathy, Noemi Paez of Abernathy, LoAna Paez of Hereford, Irma Paez and Angie Paez of Florida; and seven grandchildren.
