FRANK THOMPSON KILLED IN KOREA DECEMBER 31, 1952

Pfc. Frank Thompson, 19, was killed in action on the Korean front lines, Dec. 31, 1952. He had been on the front lines since Christmas day.
He was the youngest son of Mrs. Gladys Thompson, Jesse Thompson both of Rockdale. His father was contractor for the building of the City Hall here.
Pfc. Thompson had been in the service for about a year and was shipped overseas in September 1952. He had been in Japan several weeks prior to duty in Korea.
Pfc. Thompson received his basic training at Camp Roberts in California and was home on a furlough in the early part of September. He returned to Camp Stoneman prior to sailing overseas. He went over on the USN General Walker.
After arriving in Japan he attended a two-weeks school in chemical-biological and radiolocital training.
There was no information available to how he was killed.
Survivors besides his parents are two brothers, Sgt. Larry Thompson who is in the Air Corps stationed in California, and Gordon Thompson who is attending school in Iowa and formerly in the Air Force and his grandmother, Mrs. Harry Timmerman of Rockdale.
Pfc. Thompson was born in Rockdale where he finished school. He was the fourth service man killed in Korea from Milam county.
