BANKSTON
ROCKDALE - Services for John C. Bankston, 67, of Rockdale were at 10 a. m. Wednesday in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hubert McCallum officiating.
Burial was in Sand Grove Cemetery near Milano.
Mr. Bankston died Sunday in a Rockdale hospital after a long illness. He worked as a bus driver for Houston Transit for 33 years before moving to Rockdale four years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Houston.
Survivors include his widow, Lottie Bankston of Rockdale; two sons, John David Bankston of Rockdale and Gary Dale Bankston of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Grover (Essie) Woods of Milano and Mrs. C. B. (Lucille) Wadlington of Milano; and five grandchildren.

Recent Bride and Groom Honored With Shower Friday

Mr. and Mrs. John Bankston, recent bride and groom, were honored with a miscellaneous shower at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Diver, Friday evening. There were some forty friends and relatives who participated in the affair and many lovely and useful gifts were presented the couple. Forty-two was played during the evening and refreshments of cake and hot chocolate were served.
