Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, from the Gause Baptist Church for Jordan Alexander Ely Jr. Services were conducted by Rev. M. E. Smith, pastor of the church under the direction of Heartfield Funeral Home of Hearne.
Mr. Ely was born April 11, 1903 and died October 4 in Searcy-Fleming Hospital where he had been a patient since October 1, after suffering suffering a heart attack.
He had owned and operated a grocery and market in Gause for over 25 years. He was a Navy veteran.
His survivors include his wife, Mildred Ely of Gause, a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Sue Coates of Lamesa, a son, David Wilkins of Gause, three sisters, Mrs. Jewel Moore of Gause, Mrs. Fay Lipscomb of Ennis, Mrs. Pearl Johnson of Houston, one brother, Brown Ely of Gause, his step-mother, Mrs. Ely of Gause and seven grandchildren.
Burial was in Gause Cemetery.
