Mr. Reid had been critically ill from a heart ailment for several seeks. He was born December 11, 1869, in Hope, Arkansas, the son of the late pioneers, Josephine Shearer Reid and Joseph Reid. In 1917 he moved to Cameron and entered business. He continued in business until his health failed and three years ago he retired selling out his neighborhood grocery on North Crockett Street.
Mr. Reid was first married to Miss Fannie Roxy McKinney in Rosebud. She was a sister of Mrs. J. E. Flinn of Cameron. To this union was born one son, Frank H. Reid, of Cameron and a traveling representative of the San Antonio Machine & Supply Co. Mrs. Reid died in 1900. He was married the second time to Miss Angie Proctor in Paris, Texas, in 1903, and to them was born one son, Phillip Reid, former Cameron banker and now Cashier of the Liberty State Bank in Dallas.
Surviving are his widow, two sons as related above and four grand children: Angie Jane, Billy Mack Reid, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Reid of Dallas; Rita Frances and Helen Reid, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Reid of Cameron.
Out of town relatives to reach the city Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Reid and children of Dallas, Mrs. John House, Sr., of Paris; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haley and family of Paris.
Pall bearers will be: J. E. Flinn, Dan Collins, Ladis Marek, Calvin Markham, Joe C. Denson, L. F. Gohmert. Honorary pall bearers will be his friends in the church.
