*Obituary
Vera Miller, of Lubbock, TX, departed this life on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 93 years.
She was born on November 17, 1916 at Trickham, TX to Dr. D.T. and Lillie (Bearden) Jordan. She was the 6th child of 13 children and she had 1 half-brother. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in the First Baptist Church in Abernathy, TX with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L. W. Ledford; husband, Hugh Vaughn; son, Walter Ledford and daughter-in-law, Betty Ledford; granddaughter, Jana Smith; and nine siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Roifae (Roy Fay) Smith and husband Jim Bob of Lubbock, TX; grandsons, Craig Ledford and wife Terry of Amarillo, TX; Jay Ledford and wife Cindy of Euless, TX; Kevin Smith and wife Sandee of Midlothian, TX; Robby Smith and wife Traci of Lubbock, TX; 6 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Faydell Turney of Hereford, TX and Rubie Rosenthal of Yorba Linda, CA; one brother, D.T. Jordan, Jr. of Lewisville, TX. Vera had lived all of her adult life on the South Plains of Texas. She was first married at Morton, TX and was in the grocery business with her first husband at Maple, TX and Slaton, TX before moving to Abernathy, TX where she remained until October of 2009 when she moved to Lubbock to live with her daughter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abernathy. Arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX, with burial in the Abernathy Cemetery.
