Graveside services for Douglas Henry Vineyard, 94, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Vineyard died Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Lubbock, TX.

He was born January 12, 1920, in Holtville, CA, to Henry & Myrtle Annie (Bassinger) Vineyard. He married Imogene McGee in Abernathy, TX and to this union was born two daughters, Jean & Jan. Imogene preceded him in death December 2, 1968. In November of 1969 he married Opal Hall in Lubbock, TX and to this union she brought her children, Gerald Young, Harold Young, Ginger Elmer, & Nancy Pilkinton, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Opal preceded him January 18, 2002. Mr. Vineyard was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Marie Vineyard, who died in infancy.

He is survived by his daughter, Jan McGaugh and husband, Jackie of Abernathy, TX, granddaughters, Melody Nicholson and husband Dwayne of Little Elm, TX and Alysha Hill and husband Jonathan of Lubbock, TX, 3 great grandchildren, and a sister, Melva Settle of Seagraves, TX. www.abellfuneralhome.com
