Barton Cemetery
Bosque County,
Texas

The Barton family arrived in Bosque County Texas as pioneers in the 1860s following the Civil War. They came from South Carolina by wagon train with other families to settle between the Bosque River and Hog Creek near the present community of Mosheim. Some of the other families included Jaynes and Dodgions. The oldest persons buried in the cemetery are pioneers Peter Looney Barton and his wife, Nancy Terrell Barton. The cemetery is located in a pasture on private property off of FM 217 in Bosque County. A cemetery sign has been erected by descendants of the Barton and Jaynes families, with appreciation to the land owner for maintaining the site.
