SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN HENDERSON SR.

John B. Henderson Sr., 74, died early Sunday morning in a Temple hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Henderson was born in Cameron and was a property manager, a veteran of World War I and a member of San Andres Masonic Lodge No. 170. He was also a member of the Little River Chapter and Council and a member of Karem Shrine in Waco.
Mr. Henderson was former chairman of the board of stewards of the First United Methodist Church, Cameron and at the time of his death was trustee and assistant superintendent of the church school.
He was past Worshipful Master of the local Masonic Lodge, and was a 50-year member of the Cameron Chamber of Commerce, and was a charter member of the Cameron Lions Club. Mr. Henderson was past president of the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank Association of Temple and past chairman of the Milam County School Board.
He was the former president of the board of directors of the Cameron Housing Authority, and former chairman of the Milam County Democratic Executive Committee. At the time of his death he was president and owner of the Milam County Abstract Company.
Funeral service was held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Cameron, the Rev. J. E. Lafferty and the Rev. A. Davis Wood officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife; a son, John B. Henderson Jr of Cameron; s daughter, Mrs. Jane Henderson Hallberg of Behesda, Md.; a foster-daughter, Mattari T. Hale of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Bonnet of San Antonio and Mrs. Agnes Beard of Hillsboro; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Peter Wells, John C. Culpepper Jr., Douglas Beard, Tom Beard, Tom S. Henderson Jr., J. Harold Wood, Lewis McCarroll Jr., and Bill Burns.
