George Fox, 95, longtime Foard County resident, passed away January 11, 2009 in Vernon, Texas. He was born February 9, 1913 in Crowell, Texas, a son of Roy and Betty Harrel Fox. He married Juanita J. Sanders on August 12,1933 in Frederick, Oklahoma. George was a farmer and a retired school bus driver. He had been a resident of Foard County until 1985 when he moved to Vernon. He was a graduate of Crowell High School and played football.He was a longtime breeder of American Quarter Horses and was a founding member of the Crowell Riding Club. He was a member of the Western Trail Church. Funeral services were held in the Western Trails Cowboy Church on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 with his grandson, David Fox, officiating. Burial was in Wilbarger Memorial Park in Vernon, Texas under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. George was a true Texas gentleman with a heart as big as the whole State. He had wonderful patience and a joy for living. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a loyal friend. He is survived by one son, Ron Fox of Vernon, Texas; one daughter, JoAnn Wilson of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Fox of Vernon; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita September 5, 1992. Pallbearers were Phil Fox, Ty Fox, Rob Borchardt, Scott McVeigh, J.D. Fox, Blake Fox, Cody Borchardt and Justin McVeigh.

Juanita J. Fox, 78, died Saturday September 5, 1992 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Fox, her son, and Rev. David Fox, her grandson, officiating. Interment was in Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Mrs. Fox was born November 21, 1913 in Leasburg, Texas, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Barney Floyd Sanders. They moved to Foard County in 1929 and she graduated from Crowell High School in 1932. She married George C. Fox on August 12, 1933 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was a longtime checker at D&T Foodway in Crowell and later an employee of the Dairy Bar in Crowell. She moved to Vernon in 1985 and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Juanita was a beautiful person, always pretty as a picture with a sweet smile for everyone. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal friend and wonderful Christian woman. Surviving are her husband, a son, Ron Fox of Vernon; a daughter, JoAnn Wilson of Wichita Falls; three brothers, H.B. Sanders of Crowell; Leo Sanders of Lubbock and R.C. Sanders of Denver City Texas; two sisters, Virginia Haresnape of Lake Wabaunsee, Kansas and Marie Nelson of Marshall, Texas; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were David Fox, Phil Fox, Jeff Wilson, Rob Borchardt, Scott McVeigh and Jeff Nunn. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Foy Sanders in 1936.
