FUNERAL OF JOE JINKS
On Saturday our city was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of one our popular and best known boys, Mr. Joe Jinks, which occured in San Angelo where he had gone more than a year before in the hope of restoring his health.
The remains were brought to Cameron, the home of the family for many years and the funeral services held in the residence of Mrs. Cora Cammer, whose sons were special friends of the deceased, on Sunday morning at ten o'clock. Interment following in Oak Hill Cemetery, Rev. J. W. Milton conducted the services tender and comforting. Joe had long been a member of the Baptist Sunday School and was among the members of the Baraca class at the time of his departure from Cameron two years ago. This class, with the teacher, Judge Ralston and the Philathea class and teacher, Mrs. T. S. Henderson
took a very impressive and beautiful part in this last tribute to the memory of their young comrade.
The music of the service was especially sweet and appropriate conducted by Mesdames Henderson, Ralston and Saunders. At the cemetery, more that a hundred young men of Cameron, Joe's friends, and members of the Methodist and Baptist Baraca classes formed an unbroken circle around his grave during the last hymn, and benediction. The floral offerings were abounant and beautiful, testifying the high regard and friendships enjoyed by the young man.
Deceased was twenty-four years of age and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Jinks, now residing in Waco; a sister, Mrs. Leonard Gelesky of Corsicana: two brothers, Eldridge of Waco, and Charles Jinks of Rosebud. Also grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cage and other relatives of Walker's Creek community. To these sorrowing families The Herald extends the sincerest sympathy in this bereavement.
