STINNETT - Services for J.E. "Jake" Early, 98, of Houston, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stinnett United Methodist Church.

The Rev. John Decker, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Graveside rites will be conducted under the auspices of Plemons Masonic Lodge, 877 in Stinnett.

Mr. Early, a former mayor of Stinnett and a one-time Hutchinson County Justice of the Peace, died at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tomball Community Hospital in Tomball.

Mr. Early was born Jan. 29, 1884 in Alma, Ark. He was a resident of Stinnett from 1926 until 1971, when he moved to San Antonio. He served as Precinct 3, Justice of the Peace from 1955 until 1971.

Mr. Early also served as mayor of Stinnett and was a former postmaster in Stinnett. He was a charter member of the Stinnett United Methodist Church, and a member of Plemons Masonic Lodge in Stinnett.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; three sons, Cleland of Pasadena, Norvill of San Antonio, and Thomas of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Jack R. Robinson of San Antonio; daughter-in-law, Mrs. LaVerne O. Early of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
