Mae Finney, 89, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Stinnett Cemetery in Stinnett. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Mrs. Finney was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Hollister, Okla., to James and Maude Wynn. She married Neil Finney in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1987. During World War II, Mae worked as a riveter in aircraft manufacturing. In 1947, she and her husband moved to the Texas Panhandle and held various occupations until moving to Stinnett in 1963. From 1963 until they sold the business 1978, they were independent distributers for Plains Creamery. After her husband died, she went to school to become a certified nursing assistant in order to give care to the people of Stinnett. She moved in 1996 to Amarillo, where she was very involved in Lifeway Fellowship and Freedom Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a son, Cary Finney and wife Lissa of Amarillo; two daughters, Linda Finney Phillips and husband David of Houston and Cathleen Diane Kester and husband Danny of Katy; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care of the Southwest who provided outstanding care for Mrs. Finney and the family during her last days. A special thanks also goes to her very good friend, Paula Roberts, and her niece, Voye Lynne Stone, who also gave her and her family comfort in her last days.
