Four Die As Auto Hits Train
Greenville (AP) - A car carrying two mothers and their children crashed today into the side of a train. One of the mothers and three of the children were killed.

The women were en route from their homes north of here to a washateria in Greenville. Their nine year old car smashed into the second unit of a Katy passenger train.

Killed were Mrs. E.L. Bush, 38, wife of a Greenville garage mechanic; their two children, Emily Denise Bush, 5, and Mitchell Bush, 3; and Randy Lee Ward, 5, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Raymond Lloyd Ward of Rt. 3, Celeste, Tex.

Mrs. Ward, 34, was brought to a Greenville hospital where her condition was critical. The Highway Patrol said she was the driver. Ward is an employee of Temco in Greenville.

There is no mechanical warning device at the farm road crossing. wreckage was scattered 50 yards down the tracks. The engine was torn from the car.

The five-unit train was en route from Greenville in Denison. Conductor Burke Thompson said the car hit the second unit of the diesel engine. He said his first knowledge of the accident was when he felt the impact."
