Oscar Trosper, 92 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Cornerstone Church with Pastor Frank Gordoa, officiating, assisted by Ron Trosper and Ramon Muniz. Interment will follow at Stinnett Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5pm to 7 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Oscar was born on August 19, 1927 in Texline, TX to Oliver Eli and Estella Mae (Love) Trosper. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a striker aboard the USS Sigourney in the Pacific. After his service, he continued to serve with the Naval Reserves and the National Guard. Oscar worked for Phillips Chemical Company from 1948 until 1965 at which time went to work for the Colorado School of Mines. Oscar had a love for children which 'was evident with him coaching, little league football, baseball and softball. He was also very instrumental in building the football field in Cactus. Oscar was an extremely soft-hearted person, a great story teller and just a genuinely good man. He was a member of Cornerstone Church.

He was preceded in death by two wives: Ezelia Alexander and Kathleen Trosper; step-son: Donny Alexander; daughter: Cheryl Givens; and son: Jim Trosper.

Oscar is survived by his children: Ron Trosper and wife Vicki of Terrell, TX, Madeline Sue McCleary and husband John of Dumas, TX, Paul David Trosper and wife Janet of Port Angeles, WA, and Gary Lee Trosper and wife Dawn of Broken Arrow, OK; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family request, with gratitude, memorials be made the Building Fund Cornerstone, 10 Elm Ave, Dumas, TX 79029 or American Legion Post 224, c/o David Rehkopf, PO Box 676, Dumas, TX 79029.
