STINNETT - Services for N.F. "Nick" Veloz, 70, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Ed Brown & Sons Chapel of the Fountains, Borger, with the Rev. Paul Uhles, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Stinnett by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

Mr. Veloz was killed Wednesday afternoon when his car apparently pinned him against a garage door at his home.

A native of New York City, Mr. Veloz had been a member of the Stinnett Council for the past five years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was instrumental in organizing the Stinnett volunteer ambulance service and was a lease superintendent for oil and gas properties in the Oakes Trust. He had lived in Stinnett for 40 years.

Mr. Veloz was a member of the board of directors of the Hutchinson County chapter of the American Red Cross and had been a first aid instructor more than 20 years. He was a member of the American Heart Association and was an instructor in cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Rogers of Amarillo; a son, Nick F. Veloz Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; two step-sons, Chris Johnson of Amarillo and Steve Johnson of Dallas; his stepmother, Mrs. Adella C. de Veloz of New York City; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Bailey, Denzal Skidmore, Tommy Ferguson, Malcolm Joyce, Lee Russell and John Gill.

Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Stinnett City Council, other city officials, and past and present members of the Stinnett Volunteer Ambulance Drivers.
