SPEARMAN - Myra Fern Berner, 74, formerly of Spearman, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Union Church of Spearman with the Rev. Fred Huff of Apostolic Faith Church in Balko, Okla., and the Rev. Roland Haney of Spearman Apostolic Faith Church officiating. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Berner was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Magnolia, Ark., to Erman Weldon and Cladys Ward Dickson. She was raised in southwestern Arkansas. She was a graduate of Apostolic Faith Bible College. She married Wallace Dean Berner in 1955. She lived in Pasadena for five years before moving to the Spearman area in 1957, where her family had a farming operation. In 1998, they retired to Mills, N.M.

Mrs. Berner was the office manager for Jarvis Law Firm for 14 years in Spearman before moving to New Mexico. In New Mexico, she worked for Harding County Soil and Water Conservation District.

She was a member of Mosquero Community Church, where she served as a pianist and coordinated weekly Sunday church dinners. She was also a member of Holt Community Extension Club and Gladiola Flower Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace Dean; two daughters, Cindy Smith and husband, Ron, of Amarillo and Denise Kellum and husband, David, of Plainview; a son, Ed of Plainview; a brother, Weldon Ward "Sonny" Dickson and wife, Peggy, of DeSoto; and 10 grandchildren, Desley Kellum and wife, Jennifer, of Tulsa, Okla., Derek Kellum, Dean Kellum, D'Anna Kellum and D'Nae Kellum, all of Plainview, Keisha Dawson and husband, Brennin, Shea Smith and Brynn Smith, all of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to Mosquero Community Church, P.O. box 126, Mosquero, NM 87733.

Visitation will be at Holt Community School after the graveside service.
