The Spearman country received a severe shock on Wednesday morning, March 22, when the news was sent out that J. D. Good had suddenly passed away at his home 13 miles south of Spearman, the cause of death being heart failure. Mr. Good was recovering from a severe attack of influenza, and was in Spearman Tuesday transacting business and apparently rapidly regaining his usual good health. He returned to his home in the afternoon, ate a hearty supper and retired early. He spent a restless night, however, suffering very suddenly Wednesday morning, before arising from his bed. Mr. Good was a progressive stock farmer and substantial citizen.
He leaves a wife and eight children, with a host of friends, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father and a generous friend.
Deceased was born on December 10, 1861, in Tennessee, and came to the Panhandle country in 1906. The family located at Gym, in Hemphill county, and moved to their present home in north Hutchinson county about six years ago.
G. R. Wilson, undertaker and embalmer, with R. H. Gamel in charge of the hearse, came from Perryton and had charge of the funeral obsequies. Interment was had in Holt cemetery on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock, Rev. Hand conducting the services at the grave.
